Performance-proven for four decades, DH Series chillers have been the solution to heavy-duty equipment and process cooling for thousands of companies. Individually-customized, but built with standard components, GCI brings you all the features you want and none of the shortcuts that lessen the quality.

Designed and built by GCI for the most demanding applications in food, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, plastics and rubber, chemicals, metalworking, and nuclear science, DH Series Icewagon™ chillers are dependable workhorses over a broad range of capacities.

Available in both air-condensing and water-condensing designs, DH chillers are equipped with additional features to assure reliable operation in critical applications year in and year out.

-Steel frame and covers - Structural steel frame helps protect chiller from impact damage. Removable steel panels allow access for routine inspection and maintenance. Compact design. Casters or mounting pads.

-Dual compressor option - DH chillers can be equipped with two compressors, a dual-circuit evaporator and a dual-circuit condenser and wired for lead-lag performance so that one or both systems can operate as the heat load varies, such as between winter and summer. This provides greater flexibility and can conserve electricity. In addition, total redundancy can be provided with complete dual systems within the same machine using a PLC control. This can be especially important in critical applications. Three and four compressor models are also available.

- Drop-in condensers - DH Chillers utilize a unique modular "drop-in" condenser technology to optimize final heat rejection and allow machines to be individually tailored to ambient conditions. Air-condensing chillers can be sized for low-standard- or high ambient temperatures (including altitude variations). Water- condensing chillers can be sized for the varying temperatures of city water, well water, tower water or other sources.

- Hot gas bypass - Eliminates the constant on-off compressor short-cycling that results in excessive component wear and unnecessary electric power usage. Delivers more precise temperature control.

- Job-specific evaporators - GCI will fit an evaporator selected specifically for your application. It may be GCI's own Coilmatic™ high-efficiency evaporator, a special low-flow evaporator, or a space saving brazed plate evaporator.

- Secondary coolant loops - A frequent option on DH chillers is the secondary loop - an additional heat exchanger installed within the chiller between the evaporator and the process. This may be necessary to reduce the possibility of freezing the evaporator where a glycol or methanol services and a primary coolant and water near 32°F is the secondary coolant. It may also be a smart choice where the secondary coolant is deionized water, oil or a thermal fluid, or when a large temperature drop is required. The secondary heat exchangers may be brazed plate, plate and frame, shell and tube or another design and are wholly enclosed in the chiller frame. Secondary pumps and tanks are also common.

- Stainless steel pump and tank - Complete corrosion resistance. Centrifugal circulating pump has high-efficiency impeller, centerline connections, mechanical seal. Available for a wide range of coolants. Vented tank acts as a thermal "flywheel" as well as providing a buffer for expansion.

- Brazed copper piping throughout - Long-lasting. No plastic to get brittle. No ferrous metals to rust. Bronze valves. Full-insulated. For deionized water or food applications, stainless steel or CPVC piping is optional.

- Microprocessor control - Easy-to-use digital thermostat, plus high- and low-pressure refrigerant gauges, pump pressure gauge, tank sight tube and internal refrigerant sight glass. Controls in °F or °C. Remote interface optional. Extra digital thermometers available.

- Safety package - Includes high/low refrigerant pressure safety switch, pressure relief device, motor overload protection, line and control circuit fuses, pump switch interlock.

- ChillersDirect™ - Another GCI benefit to help keep your investment to a minimum. Deal directly with the factory. Talk to experts who can help make sure you get just the right chiller for your needs. Not too much. Not too little.

- Ready-to-install - All machines are fully tested to your operating conditions before they leave our plant. Icewagon chillers are shipped ready to hook up and run. Installation is simple, usually involving only electrical and liquid connections. Free telephone support is there if you need help.

- Options - Outdoor and split systems on air-condensing models. Call us regarding any special requirements. Custom chillers are our specialty. For low and extra-low temperature models to -50°F, Click on Low & Extra Low Temperature Chillers Link.
